On the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine in Ottawa, Bishop Stephen ordained seminarian Tom Hrywna to the Subdiaconate at the beginning of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Bishop Stephen, in his address the evening before at the Gala Banquet held on this auspicious occasion, wanted to underscore the wonderful relationship that has existed between the Shrine parish and Holy Spirit Seminary over the last 34 years by sharing with the parish community some of the fruit of their spiritual and material support – a subdiaconal ordination. Subdeacon Tom is studying for the Eparchy of Toronto and will soon finish his theological studies. Afterwards, he will be placed in the pastoral internship program within the Eparchy supervised by the Seminary.
