Ordination of Fr. Ilie Babota
On August 28, 2014, His Excellency Bishop Paul ordained Ilie Babota to the Holy Priesthood. The ordination took place at the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, in Costiui (Rona de sus) Maramures, Romania at the annual pilgrimage for the Feast of the Dormition Feast. Hundreds of people come from different villages and towns in the area to celebrate this feast day. This year, all the faithful together with all the con-celebrating clergy were led in prayer by His Excellency, Bishop Paul, Eparch of Stamford, CT. Fr. Ilie returned to his home and celebrated his first Divine Liturgy in the USA at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Auburn, New York on Sunday, September 7, 2014. He has been assigned as an associate pastor at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rochester, New York.
