In Memoriam: + Bernie Shubaly
Today marks the second anniversary of the falling asleep in the Lord of a dear friend, supporter, and former employee of Holy Spirit Seminary – Bernard Shubaly.
Bernie was the handyman at the seminary for many years – fixing and tinkering with all that happens with an old and still aging building. And there was nary a time that you did not see him smiling. He didn’t just like his work, he loved it, and he loved those whom he served. He and his wife, Pat, had been incredible supporters of the seminary for decades, and Pat stills continues that tradition. We know that Pat and her family misses Bernie – we miss him, too. And together, we place our hope in the promises of our Lord.
God of spirits and of all flesh, You trampled death, You made the devil powerless, and You gave life to Your world. Now, O Lord, to the soul of Your servant, Bernie, who has fallen asleep, grant rest in a place of light, a place of verdure, and a place of tranquility, from which pain, sorrow, and mourning have fled. As the good and loving God, forgive every sin of thought, word, or deed he has committed. There is no one who will live and will not sin, for You alone are sinless. Your justice is everlasting justice and Your word is truth. For You, O Christ our God, are the resurrection, the life, and the repose of Your servant, N., who has fallen asleep, and we give glory to You, together with Your eternal Father and Your most holy, good, and life-giving Spirit, now and for ever and ever. Amen.
Eternal memory! Вічная пам’ять!
